movie: catfish

so i saw this movie the other night and had to recommend it. it's one of the best movies i've seen in a while. the style is cool, because it's all real footage. it wasn't exactly the movie i expected, which is the reason i liked it. the movie poster says, "don't let anyone tell you what it is," so i won't. but it's worth the view

OCTOBER:

Family-time in autumn is mostly the best. Hayrides, pumpkin picking, mom and sisters' freshly baked goods, halloween candy, and thanksgiving dinner, on the horizon! MMM
(and biting ruth's cold rosy cheeks)
fresh blueberry muffins mom made today
It's really good to be back in Utah. Good to see family and friends again. Good to sleep in my own bed again. Good to live in civilization again. Good to be alive at this moment of time in the universe.

GREAT NEWS: cure for the common cold??

God bless the Brits. The one thing about this time of year that I always detest, is colds. After two weeks of sneezing, sniffing, snorting, and snotting, my immune system finally K.O.'d my cold.  I was just thinking to myself the other day, how in the world have scientists not discovered a cure for the cold yet?! When, I came across this article.
Apparently some english scientists figured out a way to salvage already virus-infected cells. "The study, which is reported in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that antibodies can enter cells at the same time as the virus invades, triggering of reactions which allows a protein called TRIM21 to eject the bug."
I found another article on this story which said this treatment becomes effective (in eliminating a virus) within only a few hours! Which would be incredible..
But, because of the simplicities of pharmaceutical industries, a sellable drug or nasal spray may not be available for another decade. huzzah..
However, another recent American study found that those who are involved in rigorous physical exercise on a routine basis are twice as less likely to catch a cold (something about exercise boosting the level of immune system cells..). So anyways, there's a tip for avoiding them while we await the miracle pill.

life/dreams

UN [Explicit](click album to download)
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this artist, thinking he was a Thom Yorke wanna be, but he's grown on me. And I love this song.

So long MT.

My working term in Montana is finally finished! I thought my last week would go by really slowly and painfully, but sometimes life has a way of taking your prejudices and sweetly strangling them. West Yellowstone, as small and stuck-in-the-eighties as it is, really grew on me.
The sunsets are pretty incredible

I'll miss the coffee and grease smell of the Geyser Grill -and the people I worked with there.
and this.
On one of my last days, I went into the natl park for my first time this summer. Ha embarrassing I know, but hey, we got a free pass. I went with my coworker and close friend Traci and her two little boys. We saw buffalo, deer, elk, and a pack of wolves.
That night we went and saw the famous geyser, Old Faithful. The moon and (millions of) stars were really bright and lit the fountain with a majestic luminescent glow. Plus there weren't throngs of jabbering and cheering tourists, so we could really hear the eerie rumble of it.
If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend seeing it at night. A top notch experience.

I had to use up my groceries so here's the last supper I cooked for myself. delicious.
So no more cleaning cabins of filthy people, answering idiotic questions at the front desk, and satisfying grumpy old farts!!!
AND to top it all off, I didn't have to take the bus home. Yeeeeah.
Long car rides are also one of my favorite things on this planet. They really help to clear my mind and always make me feel.. well, GOOOD. With the killer playlists I had, combined with the scenery, I could have kept driving forever.
Maybe I'll be a truck driver one day.
..AND back to UT.

and BEARS! oh my..

The other night there were FIVE bears in town. Just roaming around looking for food (one grizzly "charged five locals" -allegedly). On my way to work I passed swarms of police cars trying to shoot the bears (with guns? tranquillizers? not sure) and crazed animal rights activists running in front of the police. Quite the scene. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stop and watch, AND I didn't have my camera. But something exciting happened here!!! Apparently it was a bad year for food in the mountains, so the bears came down to scrounge in our trash cans. Unfortunately all they'll find in mine are empty mac'n'cheese boxes, eggshells, and tuna cans. MMM. But I also heard that a bear was spotted behind my apartment about a week ago. That's assuring, considering I never know if I'll find one behind the gate on the way to my house at night. Wish me luck tonight.
Hopefully this satisfied your craving for West Yellowstone gossip.

My classy pastime

So I came across this photo on my roommate brooke's blog. well, she's no longer my roommate because she's off exploring spain for the semester (and the rest of europe). dumping me for bigger and better things. i see how it is brooke. whatever..
BUT on cold montana days, if you were to drop into my apartment. this is where i'd be passed out. right by the heater. in fact, one night i managed to sleep there all night and woke up with a large bumpy burn on my arm. but when you're chilled to the bone, surrounded by bitter frigocity, the gentle current of blessed warmth that emits that electric box, with it's soft clicking purr is pure bliss. just saying

too much.. too much..

So i was bored and looking throughg DrudgeReport today and came across this headline.

VIDEO: Airline uses Lady Gaga song for flight safety demo...
so.. big woop, i thought, they set the safety-demonstration video to "just dance". but no.. it's a live demonstration with dancing and.. just watch it
